Red Swing For Hindu Harvest Festival, Wat Sutat

* Wat Suthat has an outstanding chapel [ bot ] reputed to be the tallest in Bangkok. This temple has an impressive array of sites, the surrounding galleries of gilted Buddhas, the large hall [ viharn ] and the principal Buddha image caste in the 14th C at Sukhothai and brought to Bangkok by Rama1 by boat down the Chao Phraya River.
* Inside the Temple are impressive murals dating from the reign of Rama 2, monumental and finely carved doors, stone pagodas and bronzes of horses.
* Outside the front entrance is the Giant Red Swing, until 1920 used in the Brahminist ritual ceremony to honor the God, Phra Isuan. Surrounding these sites are numerous shops selling religious objects for temples and shrines at homes.
